Welcome!
Welcome to the website of Maranatha Baptist Church! Whether you live in the Shelby, NC area, or are just looking for a great source of conservative Christian resources, we trust the time you spend on our site will challenge you to live in view of eternity. Of course, you cannot live for Christ in the light of eternity until you know Him as your personal Savior! The Bible is very clear about what it does, and does not mean to be a Christian. Let us share with you how you can know for sure that you will spend eternity with God. In order to spend eternity with God – to be saved – you must understand these six basic Bible truths:

#1 Every person is a sinner.
Romans 3:23
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
#2 There is an eternal penalty for sin.
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Revelation 20:14-15
And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

#3 Because Jesus Christ paid the penalty for sin on the cross of calvary, God offers every person the gift of eternal life.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
#4 No person deserves God's gift, nor can one earn it.
Titus 3:5
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us.
#5 A person must repent of his sins — he must be sorry for his sins and be willing to turn away from them.
2 Corinthians 7:10
For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation….

Luke 13:5
I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Acts 3:19
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out….

#6 A person must simply receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, if he is to have the gift of eternal life.
Romans 10:13
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

I John 5:12
He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

If you desire to be saved, you can call on the Lord by praying something like the following prayer in your own words. Reading a prayer will not save you, but if you pray a prayer like this and it expresses the belief and desire of your heart, the Lord will save you.

Dear Lord, I acknowledge that I am a sinner, and I am sorry for my sin against you. I believe Jesus, your perfect Son, died in my place on the cross, and right now I invite him into my life, and ask you to save me for His sake, amen.

If you just now prayed to receive Christ as Savior, please, do us the honor of contacting us, so that we may rejoice with you and help you get established in your new life in Christ.
